JetBlue to deploy advanced inflight Wi - Fi in 2012

JetBlue will provide advanced wireless for all 160 of its aircraft by end of 2012, the company announced Thursday. The airline is in partnership with the California ViaStat to provide broadband and TV service on its entire fleet of satellite-based telecommunications company.

"Rather than invest in current technology, designed to transmit broadcast video and audio, we chose to associate ViaStat to create features worthy of today interactive personal needs of technology, broadband" Director of JetBlue Dave Barger said in a statement.

ViaSat will provide JetBlue with its components SurfBeam 2 modems and Ka-band antenna for use on the E190 | airline and aircraft Airbus A320, as well as bandwidth and services satellites. Subsidiary Etoffe LiveTV will support integration of ViaSat technology on JetBlue plans and provide a Wi - Fi service.

The Federal association of aviation should test the service before its implementation.ViaSat and LiveTV also intend to partners and bring this technology to other airlines.

JetBlue first Wi-Fi service available in December 2007 on its Airbus A320s with LiveTV and Yahoo and research in motion as partners.

A Computerworld July report, one third of the domestic plans already provide Internet access .the competitors of JetBlue, AirTran and Virgin Atlantic have it and Delta and Southwest schedule implement functionality on all their plans by the time JetBlue starts the installation.
