There are times when you may want to go beyond the basics as given in Excel's help file, however. In particular, you may want the format to apply only if two conditions are true?if cell A1 is "yes" and cell A2 is "no" for example. It's not obvious how you might do that, but it's easy once you know how. Set the Condition in Excel 2003 to Formula Is, or create a rule using a formula in Excel 2007, and set the formula to =AND(condition 1, condition 2). In this example, the actual formula would read: =AND(A1="yes", A2="no").
